Hot Heaven Pizzeria
33 E. Main St. (Route 44), Avon

When it comes to pizza, there are two kinds of people: those who love a thin-crust pie, and those who don't.
If you're one of the former, expect a celestial experience at Hot Heaven, a new eatery in the Old Avon Village shopping complex.
The tiny spot serves up a menu of interesting salads, paninis and sandwiches and extra-thin-crust pizzas with gourmet toppings.
The specialty section on the menu include a wide selection of white pizzas, including a blackened scallop with roasted garlic and gorgonzola cheese; honey-roasted chicken with fresh ricotta, goat cheese and baby spinach; and our favorite, a shrimp, garlic, artichoke and feta combination.
"Red" possibilities include the Garden Pizza, piled with so many veggies it's practically health food, and one of the most unusual choices we've seen, a Cajun chicken pie with roasted tomatoes, burnt onions, jalapeño peppers and roasted garlic, topped with a bourbon BBQ glaze.
The tangy pear gorgonzola salad is a mix of greens tossed with carmelized onions, candied walnuts, pear slices and crumbles of tangy cheese.
Cranberry spinach salad, a meal in itself, features maple-glazed chicken on a bed of baby spinach with sun-dried tomatoes and toasted sesame seeds.
If you're looking for a great sandwich, try the prime rib panini with beef, blue cheese, roasted red peppers, wasabi and crème fraiche on a grilled French baguette.
Call for hours.
